I started Fine Feather Health a little over a year ago and for much of this past year I have been trying to define exactly who we are and what we do. I had this great idea, but putting into words and describing it to others was often difficult. Then I remembered a Ted talk that said the most important point to get across is your ‘why’. In today’s inaugural post, I’m going to tell you about Integrated Health Counseling (our ‘how’), but more importantly I am going to tell you about our ‘why’.
Many of us struggle with our health. Maybe it is something specific like diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure; maybe it is something more general like fatigue, weight gain or decreased energy. Whether your health concerns are specific or general, one thing is certain. When you are free of health concerns, you are free to experience life at a whole other level. When you feel good both mentally and physically, you have more time to spend with the people you love, doing the things you love. When you feel good, both mentally and physically, your life becomes richer. When your health is good, your life is better.
Simply put, helping people live the life they desire, and live their life to the fullest is our ‘why’.
More specifically, our ‘why’ is the young mom, who wants her energy back so she can run and play with her son, the same mom who wants to be a role model for her son as he grows up. Our ‘why’ is the grandma who wants to keep up with her young grandchildren and go hiking with her friends. Our ‘why’ is the 45 year old who doesn’t want to sit by and watch life pass her by while she deals with stomach problems. The same woman who wants to enjoy a day at the beach and a nice dinner out in the evening. Our ‘why’ is the dad who wants to walk his daughter down the aisle and dance at her wedding. Our ‘why’ is the 62 year old man who hasn’t felt like himself in years. The same man who no longer wants to take naps every day, but instead wants to enjoy his garden. The same man who wants to enjoy motorcycle rides and day trips in his convertible, and who knows, maybe one day, find true love again.
I have seen and I have experienced the difference between living a healthy, balanced life and living an unhealthy, unbalanced life. The difference is astounding. Each and every one of us has the power to live the life we desire; sometimes all you need is a co-pilot to help guide the way.

Our ‘How’ is Integrated Health Counseling.
